weekly update May 17th 2016
Just a quick note to let you know what's coming up.
As usual bar open Friday and Sunday's 7.30pm - 10.30 pm, plenty to choose from our wide range of sports channels so always something to watch or just drop in to say hello! There has been some fabulous music sessions taking place on a Sunday night so come on and join in the craic!
Friday 20th May 7pm - Meet the Roses, Poker and Shindig
Come along to meet both the Hutt Irish Society and Wellington Irish Society Rose of Tralee before they head South to represent the societies in the Nationals of the Rose of Tralee in Dunedin/ Queenstown.
HVIS Poker crew are moving their regular cards night into the WIS for the night and want you all to join in the fun. They will have poker chips if you prefer to play with chips but they tend to play for cash. Plenty of change required 20c, 50c, $1 and $2. Nothing too serious! Start organising your table now or just come along anyway and we can find you a table to join!
Shindig (resident band at HVIS) are coming along to play a few tunes. Why not bring along your instrument and join in too!
The Roses will join us and be given a chance to introduce themselves and perform their party pieces.
There will be some raffles and some light finger food also available!
If your free, come along and help make this a great night!

CEILI AT THE CLUB
Come join us for a few tunes and a ceili with some of Ireland's best musicians and dancers. Normally found playing in dance halls up and down the west coast of Ireland, they've finally made it to our shores!
Featuring: Stephen Doherty (All Ireland flute and melodeon champion); David Doocey (All Ireland concertina and fiddle champion); Pat Coyne (guitarist with Sean and Dolores Keane bands); and Andrew Laking (double bass). Plus special guest dancers: Liam Scanlon (World Irish Dance champion) and Charlene Morrison (lead dancer with Altan).
Doors open at 7pm. The music begins with an open Irish music session at 7.30pm, followed by a ceili at 8.30pm, and finishes up with a traditional music session led by David Doocey, Stephen Doherty, and Pat Coyne, plus special guests.
Bring a pair of soft soled shoes for dancing!
Irish language Classes
Grúpa Comhrá /Conversation Group starts Déardaoin /Thursday 17 Setpember at 8pm
Gives you a chance to try out your cúpla focal over a cuppa or a pint. No matter your level, come along and get your Gaeilge going! All welcome.
Fortnightly get-togethers alternating between Wellington Irish Society and Hutt Valley Irish Society starting on Thursday at 8pm at Wellington Irish Society.
